Advertisers or Designers?

So I really feel more for the designers that my class watched last Wed. The designers had so much passion for their work and didn't seem to care much about what people really thought but that it was their love and passion that made people want to use their designs for ads. While reading about Ogivly and Reeves, they seemed to care about what they did but cared too much about the business part. I may be wrong but this is my blog and its my opinion fool.

Also those two men ALWAYS seemed to be in some kind of an argument of some kind; while the designers all worked together in some way or another as a big team. I like teamwork because the more people who are working towards the same idea brings out better product.

My Peers Political Views

In this video the first sign is the gun shot when the music starts. Signifier is that its a gun shot noise that is easily recognizable. The signified is what the gun shot means. The video is a political gun control video so it is demonstrating a gun sound to add effect to the video. The second is the hunter, the signifier is he is a hunter with his gun and killed a large deer. The signified is his right to carry his gun while hunting to lower the population of deer because that is the point of hunting. The third is the sheriff swat team holding gun. Signifier is a sheriff swat team holding guns walking down the street. Signified is that they represent a team trying to protect the citizens but need guns to protect themselves at the same time.

The first sign is the music in the background. Signifier is that its just an orchestra music selection. Signified is it makes it feel almost depressing because the video talks of kids dying of guns so it adds deep emotion. The second is a boy holding a gun. The signifier is a small boy holding a gun with an angry face. The signified is that he is one of the reasons this person is for gun control. Nobody knows what this boy is pointing the gun at and why. The last is Picture of Obama with vote in fingers. Signifier is the president of the United States with the word vote on his hand in between each finer. Signified is saying vote for Obama in re-election if you are for gun control .

The first sign in this is the opening picture The American flag. The signifier is the flag itself. The signified it what it means. It means a country united in beliefs and ways. The second is the picture of two handguns and coffee picture. The signifier is the two guns with cups of coffee made to look like Starbucks logo. The signified is that this is saying having a gun is as American as people drinking coffee in the morning. The last sign is the gun/flag together. The signifier is the gun across the American Flag. The signified is that having and owning a gun is an American choice.

Yeah I heard Travis' complaint about cracked.com. I love cracked.com, it is an amazing site. The article he was talking about was far from depressing at all, it was actually really funny. He tends to take things too seriously and literal I think. The article made me laugh historically. Does that make some kind of crazed maniac? I don't think so. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion so I'm not going to be a super A-hole about it. I just think he should have looked at it differently.

Sneeks Ad

We were given the assignment to design three ads for the sneaker brand "Sneeks". We were to make an ad a piece for a boy, girl, and boy and girl combined. The assignment was difficult because our resources for the shoe were kind of limited. We pulled it together and made three great ads for the "Sneeks" shoes with the slogan "Rock Ur Sneeks". The slogan is referring to a group of kids that are kind of punk and love rock music. The point of the ads is to show the different people who are punk rockish with a picture of the shoe somewhere in the ad, whether its on their feet or just present in the ad.

Shake that WHAT???

In class we watched the movie Dreamworks, The movie discussed different roles of women in music video  and i couldn't agree more with what he was saying in the movie. Women are used for men's enjoyment when the lead vocalist are men, but I don't see that as a bad thing. These women want to shake what they got for us on camera or they wouldn't be doing it. yes they may get paid and such but lets be honest, they know I'm watching and want to give me a good show. That's why in the video below, these girls are giving it their all to make that cash by shaking that ass!...

Mustang Ad Analysis

This is an ad in a mustang magazine that I have since that is all I read when it comes to magazines. It is advertising the 2010 glass roof mustang that came out. When looking at this picture you see a silver mustang in front of a black background. The mustang has a bright red interior so you can clearly see through the glass roof to prove the point of it. It also says what the car is and the quote "Need we say more?" The intended meaning for this is to show you how good the glass roof looks on the mustang and the quote is saying looking at the picture, do we really need to say anything more about how sick and amazing this mustang is going to be?

The mustang is American made and stays one of the best American cars on the streets....especially mine!!!!

My Favorite Ad? Serious Bra?

So you want to know what my favorite ad? To be completely honest with you I've never thought of a favorite ad. Besides watching really late night TV and Mustang magazines I almost never get to see any kind of advertisement.

But if your that nosey I'll tell you which ad really gets me going. I have never laughed harder than at some of the Esurance commercials. They have about 10 different new commercial ads that I laugh at every time I see them.It was an Indian guy sitting next to a tech guy answering a phone call not giving out the props he deserved...I can't explain the whole commercial but it had a dry sense of humor that I love. I loved that commercial so much that I now have Esurance as my car insurance agent. .
